Egress Window

Got started digging the pit for the basement egress window.  Big job, the hole is about 5'x4'x5'.  Adds up to a lot of dirt and a lot of digging.  Fortunately it's a lot easier digging here than it was in TX or CO. The deepest part of the hole is deep enough, but there's still a lot of digging that I'll need to do.  This is enough room to get the concrete saw in there.  I've contracted a guy to come out and do that, but I'll schedule that for next Friday so I have plenty of time to prep the inside and outside.  I'll also have to cart away some of the dirt as I'm out of space to throw it while digging.

Ugly Float and Tape

Getting started on the float and tape job on the upstairs half bath.  Pretty ugly so far. This is just the first coat, which is really intended to just get the tape down.  Looks ugly, but it's actually not bad.  Won't know for sure how it will look till the last coat.  Plan is to do a texture-free level 5 finish.  Not sure if I'll be able to pull it off or not, worst case if it doesn't pan out I can just throw some texture up.

Digging

Felt like crap on Friday, but better this weekend.  Wanted to get outside, but didn't feel good enough for a long bike ride.  Decided to start digging (literally) into the stump in the back patio. At this point I've dug about 80% of the dirt out, and removed the last of the cinder block edging, so now I have a flat surface and know how deep I'll need to go when I get the stump grinder.  Odds are this will take a while, and I ran out of steam after doing this. Here is a reminder of that that stump looked like when I moved in. On Sunday I did actually start digging for the egress window in the basement.  I'll probably pick at the stump here a little at a time, as I'll want to have as much of the stump clear of the dirt before I rent a stump grinder so that hopefully I can finish with the stump grinder in one day. Also started mudding the half bath, but need a better mud mixer before I can finish that.

No Pics

Nothing worth taking pictures of.  Did some more wiring, got the dedicated 20amp line to the workshop done.  I think I'm going to have an electrician put a new breaker panel in for me, as I'm not wild about the "snug" wiring in the current box, and I know I'll have to put a few more lines into it.  Better to just have a safer, box, and one with a main cutoff. Also got the last big piece of drywall up in the half bath.  I'll take pics when I do the float and tape this week.
