Lighting

Here is a good shot that shows the exterior night time lighting.  Other than the tall, thin window, which is covered with plywood right now, this show some of the lighting coming out of the new clerestory windows.  They are covered with clear-ish plastic, so the light shines through nicely.

Front Wall

Needed to remove the front window and frame it before I could finish the laundry or kitchen framing and drywall, so I decided to go ahead and tackle the front wall of the house.  After several mockups I arrived at this: So I started by tearing off all of the front. As of Sunday I'm at this point and calling it a weekend, other than tacking up some plastic to cover the holes.

Kitchen Framing

Initial framing of the kitchen is done.

Kithen Wall

No more kitchen cabinets Needed to remove them before I could start framing the new walls.  There are still some remnants of the previous wall up against the ceiling, I'll take those down later this week or this weekend.  Now I have to put planking back in the floor, then I can start framing.

Stairs Back In

Finally got my stairs back.  This time the framing is in final form, but with 2x12's as steps. Now has 3 stringers, and a landing box for the landing, which acts as the final step.  Not sure what I'll end up using for the treads, considering hardwood or slate, but that may depend on what I use for flooring in the kitchen.  Need to add a flew planks to finish it.  I might go ahead and put some tread faces on so the dog can get used to using the stairs, which may or may not be a good idea.

Stairway Framing Done

Doesn't look like much difference, but there is a whole lot of work that went into this.  All of the support framing for the stairway opening is now done.  The temporary supports in the basement are now removed and it's supporting itself in it's final form.  Had to do a lot of demolition in order to get this job right.  I actually screwed it up the first time, ended up with the main support beam not perfectly straight, so I had to do it over.  As you can see, almost all of the kitchen wall is gone now, with only temporary storage there for now.  I have a temporary low wall to keep the dog (and me) from falling into the basement.
