Door

Got the new door installed and all of the primary framing done. There's a little bit of clean-up framing to do, and I need to get the closet door ordered ASAP.  I'll start on the subfloor and electrical next.

Gutted

Have the new master bedroom completely gutted now.  One small beam left in place that I'll remove when I put the closet wall in to support the main beam.  Probably not needed, but just want to make sure that doesn't settle any. 360 view

Exterior

Been a while since I updated the exterior pictures of the house.  Need to update other pictures too. Still desperately in need of landscaping, hopefully I'll start on that soon.

Master Bedroom Layout

This shows the old layout and new layout.  The images show with a queen size mattress in the room.  This shows how it barely fit in the old layout. The demolition is taking longer than expected.  They really overbuilt the framing.  Each door has a 4x8 header over it, and it seems as if the construction team was paid by the nail. Here is the pile of all the non-reusable wood I pulled out. Right now I have all the framing out, and most of the drywall, but will need to remove some more drywall before I'm done with demo.

Bedroom

Got the itch to combine two of the upstairs bedrooms, as both were uncomfortably small.  This will become the new master bedroom. Will be building out one of the basement rooms as the new 3rd bedroom.

Theater Lighting Done

Done, bigger job than I expected.  Mainly due to the amount of time required to mount everything, measure and mark, remove, cut, paint, test fit, refit, etc... Turned out really well.  Up close you can see the flaws, but that's the reason the backing paint is a dark color, as you never see it unless you look closely. I'm very happy that the design made a difficult, ugly spot to work with, turn into an asset.  Recessing the lighting behind the wood makes it difficult to repair, if a light goes out, so good thing it's LED.  In the main area, and the other rooms I'll probably use a router to recess track lighting into the wood, put the slats over that.  Should make it easier to make, and a little more flexible.  Also it will reduce the depth needed, as I have very little vertical space to work with in the main area.

Theater Lighting

Had been working on a lot of ideas for how to deal with the space between the vents and the wall.  This needs some ability to remove the cover, so that plumbing can be accessed as needed.  Looks like this final idea is working out. Basically it's 3/4" plywood with cedar slats.  The slats are clear cedar cut to 1.5" x 5/8" size, and to fit in the area are 8" long.  They are treated with danish oil.  Here you can see a shot without the lights on as I was fitting it.  The lights are Ikea LED spotlights, mounted on the backside with a hole cut for the light to come through. You can see the wiring the for the lights here. I'm very happy with the look, think I'll use this in all locations like this.  It's time consuming, and the cedar isn't cheap.  I'm considering using it on all of the basement ceiling, but that might be a bit too much. The lights make a nice pattern on the accent wall. Lots more work to do, need to complete the res
