Networking Closet Done

Just need to finish the coax ends, and button up one outlet cover, but the shelves and cat6 are all done.

Rock Wall Done

All done with the rock wall, turned out well.

Starting the Rock Wall

Starting the rock veneer wall in the basement listening room. Also built a wall rack in the entry way.

Basement Progress

Not far now.  Will need to extend the track lighting so that each light is directly above the pots. Bed frame will arrive next week, then need to install the blinds and paint the doors.  Should have the smoke detector soon too.  After that, all done.

Slow Progress

Finally making progress on the basement rooms.  Got the first coat of paint up on the bedroom.

Drywall in Progress

Getting the mud on

Basement Bedroom Started

Got the basement bedroom all cleared out and ready to start mudding.  Need to have it done at the same time as the listening room so that I can get the carpet installed.

Listening Room Paint

First coat of paint on in the basement listening room.  Shows the potential, but it will definitely need a 2nd coat: Electronics room too: Next comes trim and covering the ceiling. A pretty big improvement considering it looked like this when I moved in: And until recently it looked like this:

Accent Color

Since I'd gotten rid of the color accent wall in the living room, the plan was to use that color on the wall of windows.  I put up a first, sloppy coat of paint to see how it looks.  Here is the before:  And the after: There are still a lot of spots where the white is showing through, as it needs a proper 2nd coat, and some edge work.

Living Room Wall Finished

Had to cut big holes in the living room accent wall to run the wiring for the track lighting.  After patching it I was left with this. By that time I'd done the main mudding.  Got it all finished and painted. Went back to white for this wall.  The outside wall, with the windows will get the darker accent treatment.  I also pulled down the floating shelves, as I need to move them about 1/2 inch out to clear the wall better.

Nook Shelving

Tired of doing drywall, and had some inspiration on how to install the nook shelving in the master bedroom with hidden hardware.  The end result came out quite well.

Drywall Going Up

Almost 100% of the drywall is up in the "Listening Room".  It will be setup as a stereo room, complete with isolated circuit with hospital grade outlet. To be honest, I don't really need it, but it makes for an attractive space which could enhance resale value. The back wall will be a rock veneer, so it won't get drywall, instead it will get backer board, but I won't put that up till the mudding is done.  Have about 2 minor pieces left to finish up this room. Also, since this includes drywall work in the basement bedroom, I needed to clean up the spare room and turn it into temporary storage so I have a place to keep all the stuff that will go into these rooms.

Basement Windows

Installed the last 3 basement windows.  Now every window in the basement has been replaced.  Gone are the drafty old aluminum windows. In are the new double pane windows. The outside trim will come later. I sold my old table saw a while ago so that I could get a more portable model, and I haven't done that yet.  Once I get the table saw I'll be able to do the trim. This does allow me to finish the drywall in the basement though, which is my next priority.

Ready for drywall

Got all the code approvals, ready to put up drywall

New Office

The old master bedroom is almost 100% done, just a few details here and there.  It's now the new office.

Listening Room Lighting

Busy with the framing and electrical, got the track lighting installed.  This will be the rock accent wall when it's all done.

Bedroom Carpeting

Got the paint and trim done, and got the carpet installed.  Was this: Now This:

Final Room Framing

Started framing the last room in the house, the prior workshop Got it about 90% done and ran out of steam. The framing on the West side of the room is for the closet for the bedroom on the other side, and for a small closet / equipment room for this room. Also got a door for this small closet and a replacement for the water damaged door upstairs ordered, I'll pick them up next weekend.

Office Setup

Drywall is still temporary, but while I was working from the home office I decided to add a 2nd 40" display. A 4k 27" main monitor, 40" 1080p secondary monitor, and a 4k 40" TV not connected to the computer (yet, until I decide to get a better graphics card) that I can use for watching TV while working. And a cat who fights me for chair ownership....

Roof Leak Fiasco

Found a leak in the roof last week, at first it was a small drip, but then it rapidly got worse. I guess I was lucky I hadn't put the carpet in yet.  After fighting with a some roofing guys who couldn't be bothered to show any sign of urgency, I got frustrated and went up, cleaned everything off and found 2 spots where a brach had fallen and punched holes in the roof.  I didn't notice them initially when I examined the roof, only when I took a push broom up there and cleaned it off. Patched them up myself, saved about $500-$750 doing it myself, which was what the roofing guys wanted. There's enough water in the envelope that it's still dripping a little, but a lot less.  It should stop over the next few days if I've patched it right, and won't know 100% till the next rain this weekend.  But, I should be good to go. I think I'm done with roofing guys, if I need a real patch, I'm going to learn to DIY it myself. Once I confirm 100% the l
