Living Room Windows

Came up with an idea over the holidays to take the back wall windows all the way down to the floor.  No question this would require additional cleaning, but it could really make the look of the house much nicer.  I did a rough mockup (ignore the trash in the back yard, that's in the works).  Here is what it looks like now.
And here is what it might look like with the new windows (based on my crappy photoshop skills)
As part of this, I would also cut the concrete in the patio and create a planted area between the windows and the patio, similar to this type:
The raw glass costs about $600 per pane, and there are 12 panes if I do all of the back windows.  Not cheap, but potentially a really nice look.

I won't be able to start on this right away, but I may go ahead and rent a concrete saw and cut the planter section.  Eventually I'll replace all of the rear patio concrete with concrete pads, but for now I can start with cutting the planting area.  Once things warm up a little, and I finish a few of the other items in the house I might get started on this.  At the very least I need to put glass in where the old back door is, so I might do that soon as well as a test section.

Craigslist Find

I'm still using a lot of old Ikea Expedit stuff for storage.  It works, and is flexible, but not fancy.  Been on the lookout for something better.  Ran across this on CL for only $300, and got them to deliver. Right now it's just staged in the open area of the basement.  I should be able to finish the framing and drywall in the old theater, and I'll move these in there.

Paint

Had to get a coat of paint on before the rains hit.  Not completely sold on the blue trim, may due a dark brown or grey there instead, but a huge improvement over what it was.  Right now I only have one coat on, and haven't done the edging right, so it's a rough paint job, but it will tide the house over until I get a patch of good weather and can finish the job.

Patio Demo

Wanted to get a good exposure to the foundation so I could verify the seal (think I found a leak in the planter box where the foundation meets), so I decided to tackle getting the rear concrete pad broken up.  Quotes to do the job were in the $5k range, so I decided I'd break it up and move it myself.  Removal then is only $650. Rented a breaker from HomeDepot.  Took about 6-7hrs of work, and a lot of Ibuprofin.  Went from this: To this: I am planning on taking at least a week of picking at it to move everything.
