Cabinets all done, just needs the toe-kick panels installed. Starting to install the dishwasher. Due to a 1/2" measuring error, I get to pull all the base cabinets out and re-install them.
Day 1 of tiling the kitchen/bath/laundry. It's such an irregularly shaped area, with one-door access to the laundry and 1/2 bath, I'm sure this is going to take a while.
The original cabinets I ordered for the laundry room (prematurely) years ago, weren't going to work there. So I was able to reuse them in the garage. Used all but one 15" cabinet.
Butcher block is temporary, and cut over sized. When done the edges will line up. But these are the first cabinets installed in the kitchen. After this I do the laundry room and the half bath cabinets. May need to install the tile before doing the half bath, we'll see. These needed and extra high base to clear the HVAC intake. I have the old grille there temporarily just to over the hole. I'll get a better one later after the tile is in and I can do the kick panel covers.
Was sick on Friday, but recovered quickly and was able to do the final sanding, primer, and first coat of paint. Here I have my cheap-o washer dryer connected. You can see how the false wall hides all of the connections here. I'll probably treat myself to a new washer/dryer when I'm done.
Finally got the black bamboo I've been meaning to plant for a while. When it's fully grown it will look like this: Of course that picture also reminds me I need to deal with the touch up paint behind it. Used a custom color and then lost the can of paint somewhere, so I need to find a way to match what I have.
Finally finished the upper retaining wall. Just some minor hardscape work left to do. Then some planting, cleanup, and sprinkler system. This picture show how much flat area was gained with the new retaining wall
The results end up ok, but it takes me forever to do drywall. Finally making some progress on the laundry room. All of the tape work is done, now just need topping coat and sanding.
More work than it looks like. Had to sand the ceiling, fill all of the holes and sand them, then filled the gaps between the planks, then primer, and 2 coats of paint. Also, since I haven't updated in a while, I've done several small things, like changing out the front porch light.
Since the laundry area is the next on the todo list, I need to get the venting from the basement bathroom done, as it goes up through the laundry room. Here I have the vent tubing installed and I'm starting to build a shell around it. Using ABS rather than metal because I have a lot of twists and turns under the floor to connect with the vent without compromising the headroom in the basement, and ABS is much easier to work with. It's definitely overbuilt, but that's ok.
