Ceiling Paint

The current ceiling has a whitewash over the tongue and grove.  It's a nice idea, but it's inconsistent and a bit dated looking.  Also, matching the stain if I make changes would be a problem.  So I decided to paint the ceiling.  Saw a sample house that used grey on the ceiling and really like the way it looks.  Here's the sample:
Of course this has a lot more upgrades, so it will be a while before I can match this look.  Since the beams in the master bedroom are already white, I figured I'd start there.
Here is the result.  Doesn't look like much of a difference in the pictures, but it's much more noticeable in person.
Painting it this way gives me more flexibility, so that when I patch holes when moving pipes or other changes, I can hide the work more easily.  I may also consider filling and sanding the knot holes to clean up the look even more, but no rush on that.

This look should fit better when I paint the doors.  Plan is to use a lighter shade of grey on the doors.  I'm also replacing the brass hinges and knobs with cleaner brushed nickle hardware.

Craigslist Find

I'm still using a lot of old Ikea Expedit stuff for storage.  It works, and is flexible, but not fancy.  Been on the lookout for something better.  Ran across this on CL for only $300, and got them to deliver. Right now it's just staged in the open area of the basement.  I should be able to finish the framing and drywall in the old theater, and I'll move these in there.

Paint

Had to get a coat of paint on before the rains hit.  Not completely sold on the blue trim, may due a dark brown or grey there instead, but a huge improvement over what it was.  Right now I only have one coat on, and haven't done the edging right, so it's a rough paint job, but it will tide the house over until I get a patch of good weather and can finish the job.

Patio Demo

Wanted to get a good exposure to the foundation so I could verify the seal (think I found a leak in the planter box where the foundation meets), so I decided to tackle getting the rear concrete pad broken up.  Quotes to do the job were in the $5k range, so I decided I'd break it up and move it myself.  Removal then is only $650. Rented a breaker from HomeDepot.  Took about 6-7hrs of work, and a lot of Ibuprofin.  Went from this: To this: I am planning on taking at least a week of picking at it to move everything.
