Office Setup

Drywall is still temporary, but while I was working from the home office I decided to add a 2nd 40" display. A 4k 27" main monitor, 40" 1080p secondary monitor, and a 4k 40" TV not connected to the computer (yet, until I decide to get a better graphics card) that I can use for watching TV while working. And a cat who fights me for chair ownership....

Roof Leak Fiasco

Found a leak in the roof last week, at first it was a small drip, but then it rapidly got worse. I guess I was lucky I hadn't put the carpet in yet.  After fighting with a some roofing guys who couldn't be bothered to show any sign of urgency, I got frustrated and went up, cleaned everything off and found 2 spots where a brach had fallen and punched holes in the roof.  I didn't notice them initially when I examined the roof, only when I took a push broom up there and cleaned it off. Patched them up myself, saved about $500-$750 doing it myself, which was what the roofing guys wanted. There's enough water in the envelope that it's still dripping a little, but a lot less.  It should stop over the next few days if I've patched it right, and won't know 100% till the next rain this weekend.  But, I should be good to go. I think I'm done with roofing guys, if I need a real patch, I'm going to learn to DIY it myself. Once I confirm 100% the l...

Bedroom Trim

Got the door and baseboard trim installed in the bedrooms.  Unfortunately a small leak in the roof appeared in the new master bedroom, so I'm waiting for the roof guy to fix that before I can order the carpet for the bedrooms.

Workshop Removed

Needed to get the old workshop cleaned out with the eventual plan to finish the space.  This will bring the total square footage of the house to about 3,000.  Here is what it looked like before: And now I've set it up temporarily as an audio room, but this is mainly just to have a place to put the speakers and other stuff to get them out of the way.  Plan is to leave it as is while I finish the upstairs.  This is also an exercise to force me to use the garage as the shop, rather than the basement.  Goal is to see how workable that is.  This also gets all of the "dirty" stuff out of the house and into the garage where it belongs.

New Bike Room

Tearing down the old basement workshop so that I can finish it, and also tearing down the bike room.  I've moved the bikes themselves out into the basement landing room show here (still a big mess) So that left enough room to redo the bike room as storage and bike tools.  I wanted to separate it from the bathroom on the other side, so I slapped up some scrap drywall.  Don't ever plan on finishing it, so the ridiculously bad drywall job is just fine.  This gives me a lot more storage space, which I'll need as the old storage workshop will be finished into a usable room.

New Lighting

The track lighting in the new master bedroom worked so well that I've decided I'm going to add track lighting to the old master bedroom and the living room.  Both of which were very dark.  Phase 1, cut out the drywall to allow wiring access. Step 2, install preliminary connections, and a few test lights.  Also going to update the roof color from grey to light blue in the old master bedroom, so here you can see I'm filling in all of the holes. There will be a lot more track to add.
